Rosangel Tequila

rosangel tequila by gran centenario
Looking to add a new twist to your favorite cocktail? Try the new Rosangel Tequila by Gran Centenario, the first ever hibiscus-infused tequila. Admittedly, I had to Google exactly what hibiscus is...basically it's a family of flowering plants (I didn't so well in biology). So how does it taste? We're not sure, but we're hoping the fine folks at Gran Centenario will send us a bottle to sample. However, according to the company marketing department:

"Rosangel yields a complex, perfumed nose with ripe fruit and floral notes, plus hints of vanilla. The palate holds flavors of dried fruits, which leads to a smooth and gentle finish. The sophisticated sunset pink color visually stimulates the senses and encourages cocktail experimentation."

Sounds interesting enough. Buy yourself a bottle (you can find one at your favorite retailer for about $35) and try this recipe for The Rosangel Ruby Fizz from Julie Reiner, mixologist and owner of Flatiron Lounge in NYC and Clover Club in Brooklyn:

Ingredients:
2 ounces Rosangel Tequila
½ ounce Agave Syrup
½ ounce Ruby Port
1 bar spoon Pomegranate Molasses
¾ ounce Lemon Juice
½ ounce Egg White

Preparation:
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a highball glass with one large ice cube. Top with Club Soda and garnish with a cherry.

We'll have our review once we get a hand on a bottle.
