The Dalai Lama Wears a Rolex

What does yours truly and the Dalai Lama have in common? We both wear a Rolex. (However, I can guarantee you that THAT is the only thing we have in common as evidenced by my browser's browsing history). The fine folks at Melrose Jewelers recently wrote a great piece on their blog explaining why His Holiness - a man who eschews most luxuries - would sport a piece of jewelry that is synonymous with material success. The story goes that the Rolex was given to him by President Franklin Roosevelt and since the Dalai Lama is a "lover of fine machinery", he has kept the watch in good working order during all these years.
