Pinchy on the Cheap

lobster prices declining
I know this will sound insensitive, but we totally love this recession thing. For those of us who didn't blow our entire wad on over-inflated track homes, and still have healthy balance sheets and income statements, the economic downturn just means good stuff on the cheap. Take one of our favorite meals for instance: lobster. There is nothing more decadent than a simply-prepared lobster served with drawn butter. Ummm...yummy.

Due to smaller bonuses and declining equity positions for the well-heeled set, the wholesale price of our favorite sea crustacean has fallen by more than a quarter during the past year. While we do feel for those hard-working lobster fisherman who are seeing their livelihoods challenged by falling lobster prices and high fuel costs, we're thrilled that the price of what amounts to the cockroach of the ocean is becoming more reasonable. Do your part to help the struggling industry by ordering up some lobster for dinner.
