Steel Watches for Tandori

Crew Member Tandori called yesterday asking for help finding a new steel watch.  In the past couple of years, he’s already lost a Rolex Explorer II in Dubai after just one use (he claims the hotel maid stole it) and an Omega Speedmaster after a few months.  Dumbass.  Here are some options for Tandori and let’s hope he manages to hold on to his new watch for longer than the warranty period.

Panerai Steel Luminor 1950 GMT
Personally, I like Panerai watches with leather bracelets, however this Luminor 1950 GMT looks pretty good in steel.  It features a 44mm case, automatic movement, double folding hidden clasp, 3 day power reserve and is water resistant down to 300 meters.  Retails for $9,950 but you can find on the grey market for about $8,700.

See more after the jump.

Rolex GMT Master II
Known as the “Pilot’s Watch”, this would be the perfect watch for our “Tandori Maverick”.  The GMT Master II comes with a stainless steel 40 mm case and oyster bracelet, luminescent hand and dial markers, and in the event Tandori plummets into the ocean, the watch is water resistant down to 100 meters.  The retail price is $7,275 while the watch goes for about $6,900 in the grey market.

Rolex Submariner
In addition to being a pilot, our friend Tandori is also a seafaring dude.  He’ll probably like the Rolex Submariner which is one of the classic and iconic Rolex Watches. The Submariner has a lot of the same features as the GMT Master II but retails for a bit less at $6,000 with grey market prices in the $5,800 range.

Jaeger LeCoultre Master Compressor Geographic
While there are a few models as part of the 41mm Master Compressor line, the stainless steel model definitely catches our eye.  And like all the Compressor models, this one features industrial strength down to 100 meters.  The watch retails for $12,000 but you can get on the grey market for about $8,000.
