Barker Black Arrives in LA

You’ve got to love a company whose skull and crossbones emblem is inspired from an ancient military regiment and whose design philosophy is “subversive sophistication”, especially when the company also happens to make high-quality bespoke footwear like British firm Barker Black. All their shoes are made by specialized craftsmen - many with over 20 years of experience at the company - out of the finest French and Italian leather. The shoes are left in a suspended wire frame for 15 to 30 days giving each pair more than adequate time to retain its unique shape. Finally, the shoes are finished by hand and on select styles, the skull and crossbones logo is hand-tacked on the shoe.

Our favorite styles include this Wolfe Loafer ($775) and their Lavenum Boot ($1295), both of which would make wonderful gifts this holiday season (ahem...for any friends and family reading this post). The company recently opened up a 500 sq ft boutique at 450 North Robertson Blvd in Los Angeles or you can find their shoes at select premium retailers including Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Jeffrey, Colette, United Arrows, and 10 Corso Como.
