Paradise on the Cheap

great hawaii deals
What do you get when you mix a near-recession with the sub-prime fiasco and a splash of high oil prices? Cheap Hawaiian vacations. Two weeks ago, crew member Tandori was vacationing in Oahu at the Marriott Ihilani and noticed that the resort fairly empty. In fact, he was bumped up to one of the higher level suites at no extra charge since their occupancy was so low. Our friends at perfectescapes.com also noticed that great deals to Hawaii are a plenty:

"Many luxury hotels are offering night-free promotions, rebates on air travel, as well as special amenities such as breakfast, car rental and more in their room rate packages. And while Hawaii is not alone in its tactics (Caribbean and many European destinations are doing the same), it does add appeal for travelers who want an exotic escape without leaving the country."
