Pre-Embargo Cubans

christies fine and rare wine and vintage cigars
Just look at the cigars in this photo. If you're a cigar aficionado, your mouth is probably watering as you imagine how delicious that dark, rich tobacco will taste as you smoke it. Well if you've got a spare 16 grand lying around, you can bid on a box of these pre-embargo Romeo y Julieta Cuban cigars at Christie's Fine and Rare Wines and Vintage Cigars sale in London this week. The box was originally purchased in 1962 at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York (imagine the good old days when you can purchase a box of cigars at your local Saks). The box of 100 cigars includes 25 Petit Coronas, 25 Coronas, and 50 Perfectos (two different sizes).

Hmmm....with the stock market in shambles and real estate in the toilet, perhaps you should allocate some portion of your retirement funds to top-shelf cigars. And unlike those shares of AIG you bought years ago thinking they were a "safe investment", cigars would at least bring you some joy as they go up in smoke.
