The current gas-powered version features a Kevlar cockpit, iPod connectivity, electric sunroof, navigation system, and even storage space for your luggage. In addition, this sleek two-seater can reach a top speed of 160 mph and get up to 60-70 mpg. An electric version which can hit 200 mph won the Progressive Insurance X Prize last Fall and will go into production this Spring. The current MonoTracer starts at $75K, but sorry, it doesn't come with cupholders.

Is it just me or are there a lot of great high-end dive watches out there? Well another one is hitting the market at the end of this month. The RM 028 features a 47mm black titanium case, a skelatonized automatic movement (no idea what that means but sounds complicated), and is water resistant down to 300 meters. I’m assuming the only time such water resistance would come in handy would be if the watch accidentally fell off while diving and it fell to the ocean bottom and you somehow were able to recover it via an un-manned submersible. Could happen I guess. Only 30 pieces will be made each costing $82,000.

No, this post isn't about the Breguet Tourbillon watch. While we're sure it's a fine watch, the reason we're writing about it is the hilarious smart-ass customer reviews on Amazon. It looks like it started with one funny reviewer and different people started writing up their own faux reviews. Here is a sample:

Porsche 918 RSR Racer

Porsche unveiled their latest creation today at the Detroit Auto Show: the 918 RSR Racer which is a hard-top, race version of the 918 Spyder Concept car. The RSR is a hybrid racer powered by a 6.2 liter V8 engine producing 563 horses plus two electric motors at the front wheels which put the total HP output to 767. There's only one seat with a flywheel accumulator located where the passenger seat would be, which is used to store breaking energy and allows to driver to reuse as an on-track "turbo" button. We can't wait to see the car in competition.

Alright AMG fans, it looks some photos and more info on the next C63 AMG which will have a 2012 model year, have been leaked. From the photo above, it's obvious that the new car will retain its masculine AMG good looks. In addition, the C63 will be powered by a twin-turbo 5.5 liter V8 engine generating 550 horsepower and will have 0-60 speed in the mid-four seconds with a top speed close to 186 mph.

That's the going rate for a special bowl of noodles at Taipei restaurant Niu Ba Ba, which translates to Beef Father in Chinese. So why is this dish more than thirty times the normal price of a typical bowl at any other noodle house? The real answer is that the proprietor just made up the price based on what his VIP clientele told him would be the most they would pay for a bowl of his best beef noodles. We're all for indulgent behavior, but paying more than three bills for an effing bowl of noodles is just plain stupid.

My bro and his wife are a couple of die-hard coffee aficionados. They have been contemplating quitting their well-paying Silicon Valley engineering jobs to start their very own coffee truck. Ummm....not so sure about that one little brother. In any case, I was looking to find them a unique coffee Christmas gift and found this syphon brewer from one of my favorite coffee houses, Intelligentsia Coffee. The technology behind this specific coffee making process has been around for over 50 years and it has something to do with one orb being filled with water, then it being heated, then somehow the coffee grounds in the top orb gets saturated...I don't know, I sucked at both chemistry and physics. But I figure a couple of engineering types would appreciate this Rube Goldberg-esque coffee machinery. You can buy one for yourself for $100.

It's a Russian Imperial Stout beer that has been aged for 4 months in Bourbon barrels, bottle flat, then re-fermented with Champagne yeast. I'm in NYC city all week and let me tell you, it's damn cold out here. I love this city but for a SoCal guy, 20 degree weather is just too cold. While I brought a winter coat and a scarf, I forgot to bring a hat to cover my ears and noggin. So tonight as I was walking from my hotel - the Tribeca Grand (sexy hip hotel, but that's for another post) - to dinner at Tribeca Grill (great restaurant that counts Robert DeNiro as one of the owners, but also for another post), I decided to stop into this seemingly cool little boutique to pick up a warm hat. At first I though the store was a thrift shop because of the nondescript and somewhat old-looking exterior, but upon closer inspection through the window, it appeared that they had some pretty nice looking (new) stuff. I walked in desperate to get out of the crippling cold and asked one of the workers if they had a beenie. The guy was friendly and brought out a selection of hats. I picked one out and decided to take a look around the store. They had some pretty nice stuff. There was a nice selection of sports coats and jackets, many of which would look great on me. There were also shoes, briefcases, and a bunch of other apparel and accessories that would right at home on G Luxe. I was excited. I figured I had found a hidden gem of a store in Tribeca. I started talking up the guy behind the counter and he tells me of a new boutique that he and his partner are opening up at the just-opened Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. Pimp. A couple of young entrepreneurs. I asked him for a business card, thinking I'll be doing some online shopping and perhaps writing up a post about the store for G Luxe. He rings me up and hands me the receipt before going off to get a business card. I look at the receipt. On the top, it says: J. Crew. What the hell? I ask the guy behind the counter if this store is in fact a J. Crew. It is he confirmed. It turns out that what I had found was in fact a boutique, just one that happens to be part of a major fashion retailer. The J. Crew Liquor Store is located in a former tavern that is housed in a townhouse built in 1825 and features some of the best items that J. Crew has to offer as well as collectibles such as vintage watches, LP's and first-edition books. It really is a cool store and you definitely should check it out if you're ever in NYC. Or you can shop online, but it won't be the same experience. We'll be posting stuff from the Liquor Store in the near future.

Crew Member Tandori is a licensed pilot and not too long ago took the sticks of an old school Russian jet fighter. He fashions himself an Indian Maverick and dreams of one day buying his own private jet to fly. I keep on telling him that no one wants to be in any plane that he's piloting but he just won't listen. Perhaps he should look at buying the Maverick Jets Solo, a one-seater plane that also happens to be the world's fastest personal jet. The Solo has a maximum ceiling of 31,000 feet, a maximum speed of Mach 0.82, and range of 1,200 nautical miles. The price tag is fairly reasonable $900,000, or you can get a larger model that will set up to 5 passengers for an additional $350,000. For the safety and well-being of all his friends, we hope Tandori goes for the single seat option.
