Electric Cayman

I didn't think I'd ever see the day, but it appears that an electric Porsche Cayman is on its way. According to autoblog.com, Porsche tuning house Ruf is working on an electric supercar that will be based on the upstart Cayman. While specifics are still scarce, expect a top speed approaching 125 mph and a sticker price well north of 100 grand. With a number of new entrants into the luxury electric car market, including the buzzworthy Tesla Roadster, all you well-to-do Greenies will soon have many options to save the world in style. Read more at autoblog.com.

Disclaimer: the picture shows a Ruf Cayman (non-electric)

Help a (Lehman) Brotha Out

dick fuld art auction
So what happens when your net worth plummets by half a billion dollars while being at the helm of one of the biggest collapse in financial market history? You sell your multi-million dollar art collection and hope that you raise enough scratch to maintain your housekeeping staff (cause even a simple multi-millionaire shouldn't have to clean his own toilet). Dick and Kathy Fuld will be auctioning off their prized art collection at Christie's modern art sale on November 12, which includes works by Arshile Gorky and Willem de Kooning. The total collection up for sale is estimated to bring in $15-$20 million and the Fulds have negotiated a guarantee in which they'll receive money regardless of whether the artwork sells or not.

Hotels Before Death

Hotels to stay in before you die
MSNBC recently published their list of hotels to stay in before you die. While the potential candidates are countless, they've narrowed the group to twelve distinct hotels that combine luxury with a unique experience. While I've stayed at exactly zero of these hotels, Crewmember Tandori recently stayed at the Park Hyatt Tokyo (#7 and featured in Lost in Translation) and has vacationed at the Banyan Tree Maldives (#10). Lucky bastard. Check out the rest of the list at msnbc.com.

New Treasure

treasure island las vegas
You know you're staying in a crappy hotel when even the stripper you were able to convince to go back to your hotel room says, "Ewww, it smells musty in here". Such is the response you can expect if you bring back your favorite part-time UNLV student back to your room at the Treasure Island. Perhaps things will change with their recent renovation where they've updated rooms with pillow top beds, LCD flat-screens and MP3/iPod compatible radios. Then again, maybe not since I doubt they've fixed the funky odor, lack of in-room wet bar, and Blue Light Special clientele.

Tony's Crib

tony gonzalez manhattan beach home
If you're a fan of MTV Cribs, you'll likely remember that ultimate ocean-view bachelor pad owned by Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez. I'm sure you pictured yourself sitting in the rooftop jacuzzi, surrounded by lovely ladies of questionable repute, and enjoying the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean. Well now you can make that fantasy a reality since it appears that Mr. Gonzalez is putting his pad up for sale.

Located in the yuppy enclave of Manhattan Beach, California, this 3,500 square foot home comes with four bedrooms and four baths and features a huge rooftop deck that includes the aforementioned jacuzzi. In addition, there's a four-car garage that will provide you with ample space to store your precious rides. The asking price is a buck under $4 million, but I'm sure with the fiasco going on in the financial and housing markets, you'll be able to negotiate that down a bit.

Nutella and Banana Waffle Sandwich

Sometimes the simplest things can be the most luxurious. Take for instance a Nutella and banana waffle sandwich. Seriously, how absolutely scrumptious does that sound. There's no need for gold flakes, or caviar infused chocolate, or any of that other nonsense that we've been seeing lately in the race for most pretentious food items. Just Nutella, bananas and some waffles. Go to jamesstarmer.com for the exact recipe.

Cirrus Vision

cirrus vision sj50
Crewmember Tandori is adamant, adamant I tell ya, on getting himself his own personal jet. Since we fear that his flight training so far consists of only a few classes and 20+ viewings of Top Gun, we're truly concerned about his personal safety along with the safety of those foolish enough to get in a plane with him. With stalling in mid-flight a real possibility, we suggest that Tandori take a close look at Cirrus' new single-engine jet, the Vision SJ50 (formerly known simply as The Jet), which comes equipped with the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS). With CAPS, Tandori and the rest of his plane can safely float back to earth in the event of complete pilot failure.

In addition to CAPS, Vision offers single-engine fuel efficiency, seating for up to seven, and state-of-the-art advanced avionics and flight systems. And most importantly for us, this is one pimpy looking plane with its sleek V-tail design. According to Cirrus CEO Alan Klapmeier:

“The name ‘Cirrus Vision SJ50’ represents a natural extension of Cirrus’ vision to build the ultimate personal transportation machine. With Cirrus Vision we are providing an entirely new transportation option for personal and business travel. It is a smarter, simpler, and more efficient way to travel and holds the unique promise of redefining general aviation.”

To reserve your own Vision, go to the-jet.com.

Louis Vuitton Yachts

royal van lent louis vuitton yachts
Crewmember Tandori spends the first three weeks of every year sailing around some exotic locale. This year he'll be island hopping somewhere in the Caribbeans with six of his buddies, dropping anchor at a different spot everyday. We're hoping that Tandori soon graduates from his little sailing dingy to something much more proper, like a yacht from Royal Van Lent, which was recently acquired by the parent company of luxury house Louis Vuitton. The high-end Dutch yacht-maker specializes in custom mega-yachts which are usually 60 feet and larger. While it may seem odd that someone would make such an acquisition what with the current financial crisis and even bankers tightening their belts, Louis Vuitton's Antonio Belloni comments:

“We are confident about its growth potential in the exclusive mega-yacht sector, a market with sustainable growth prospects.”

If you're interested in buying your own pimp vessel, be prepared to drop over $40 million. And that's before the cash for the crew and gas.

Most Expensive City

monaco most expensive city
If you're pissed that your once million-dollar condo is now worth half as much as it did just a few years ago, feel worse when you find out that a similar pad in Monaco would have probably appreciated in value. According to a Bloomberg report, the Principality of Monaco is now the most expensive luxury real estate market in the world, with prices nearing $7,000 per square foot. That's right, almost seven grand for a patch of space smaller than your rear end. Monaco took over the top spot from London, which saw its luxury properties decline in value with the shellacking that is taking place in the financial sector. Rounding out the top ten list of luxury home markets include Cap Ferrat (French Riviera), Courcheval (French Alps), New York, Moscow, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Sydney, and Paris.

BRM Chrono Automatic Watch

  <br />V12 44 BG AR Chrono-Automatic Watch
If you're a fan of both luxury watches and auto racing, you need to check out the line of watches by Paris-based BRM (Bernard Richards Manufacture). Their watches are essentially wearable works of art that are all inspired by both the aesthetics and mechanics of a race car. Each one takes years of custom design before going into production.

The V12 44 BG AR Chrono-Automatic pictured here is our personal favorite from their line of unique time-pieces. It's 44m diameter face features a chronograph design with red aluminum hands (think racing pedals) and is housed in a stainless steel case. The watch is equipped with an ETA Valjoux 7753 chronograph and a black rubber strap. It's water-resistant to 325 feet and comes with a three-year manufacturer's warranty.

Just picture driving through the Malibu Canyons in your 911 S while sporting this stunning watch. That would be a glorious day. You can purchase one at neimanmarcus.com for $5,250 or go to brm-manufacture.com to check out the rest of their collection.

Ferrari Superbike

ferrari concept super bike
This is Crewmember Drewsky's wet dream: a one-of-a-kind concept Ferrari Superbike created by Israeli industrial designer Amir Glinik. Powered by a modified engine from a Ferrari Enzo, the bike is controlled by a drive-by-wire system that is similar to what is found on jet fighters like the F-16. Not much is available on the actual performance of the bike, but we would assume it's off the charts. However, even if it putts around like a moped, it's stunning aesthetics would make it worth cashing out some of your kid's college fund if the bike ever reached production.

Lushpad

lushpad
Is Craigslist a bit too "Blue Light Special" for you? We understand. If your taste in decor has moved beyond IKEA but you're not ready to pay absurd boutique prices, there may be a solution for you at lushpad.com.

Based in Vancouver B.C., Canada, Lushpad is an online marketplace that caters to collectors of modern furniture and fine art. Whether you're looking to buy or sell original pieces or unlicensed look-alikes, Lushpad provides you with access to buyers and sellers of like-minded enthusiasts. Their website is clean and easy to navigate with none of the clutter you find on eBay and much easier on the eyes than Craigslist. And for fees, we found their pricing structure fairly reasonable. Want ads are free as well as For Sale ads up to $250, $8 for items between $250-$800, and $12 for items over $800. And like any good website, they've also got a blog.

BOSS Black Natan Lambskin Leather Motorcycle Jacket

BOSS Black Natan Lambskin Leather Motorcycle Jacket
I've always had a love affair with leather jackets. One that's caught my eye recently is this motorcycle jacket by Hugo Boss that's made of lightly distressed lambskin leather. It's perfect thrown on a simple tee shirt and paired with your favorite jeans. The chest flap-patch pockets provides an ideal place for your smokes (although I suspect they're a bit small for my beloved cigars). The jacket is available at nordstrom.com for $795.

Belvedere Intense

belvedere intense
So do you really need a 100 proof luxury vodka? Perhaps if you're trying to stone-drunk a supermodel. If this circumstance shall ever befall you, consider Moet Hennessy's upcoming Belvedere Intense which will be available exclusively at leading international airports including London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle and New York JFK for 45 euros. The Intense is described as full-bodied and smooth, and has hints of creme caramel, spices, and rich bitter chocolate. The strength of the vodka comes from its double-filtration process, which also brings out the overall depth of the spirit. Happy drinking.

OG Bling

Phillips de Pury & Company's Hip Hop's Crown Jewels auction
Are you looking for some real bling to add to your collection? I mean some real OG sh*t, worn by actual rappers like 50 Cent and Tupac? Well then head over to NYC this October 1st and take part in Phillips de Pury & Company's Hip Hop's Crown Jewels auction. As you can imagine, most of the pieces up for sale are NSFW and probably would get you a bunch of funny looks or a pink slip if you tried wearing them to your next staff meeting. However, if you're headed out to Vegas anytime soon, nothing would be more pimp than rolling into Pure wearing a blinged-out necklace that says "Crank Aint Dead". Very pimp.

Terrence Howard Shine Through It

Terrence Howard Shine Through It
Terrence Howard is best known as the gifted actor who first gave hints of his musical talent in his role as an aspiring rapper in Hustle and Flow. However, it turns out the stylish Howard truly has some musical chops as he demonstrates on his debut album, Shine Through It.

Don't expect any hip here folks. Howard told his label to piss off when they asked him to recreate the vibe of Hustle and Flow. Instead, he wrote, produced and performed eleven songs that draw inspiration from a whole range musical genres including jazz, Latin, and soul. It's the perfect album to listen to as you sit in your backyard patio at night and sharing a bottle of wine and some fine cigars with your friends.

Purchase the album at itunes.com for $9.99.

Pretty Lehman

lehman brothers hotties
We really do feel bad for those fine folks at Lehman Brothers. Actually, we don't really feel bad for the bankers, traders, and research analysts who've been minting gold during the past few years and probably view the end of their Lehman tenure as a great opportunity to get some sleep and spend some of that six and seven-figure bonus money. Who we do feel for are the army of support staff who make a fraction of what an average 22-year old analyst would pull in during his or her first year. We really feel bad for the good looking ones (yes, we can be pigs sometimes). You can check out a slideshow of some of the firm's loveliest ex-employees at nymag.com. Actually, a better slideshow would be of the pissed of girlfriends and wives of the bankers, who we suspect aren't too hard on the eyes.

Burberry Waffle Hooded Sweatshirt

burberry waffle hooded sweatshirt
Thankfully I live in Southern California where the gorgeous summer days continue well into September and things don't get to nipply until December. However, I'm still bummed that the days are getting shorter and the prospects for beach and pool parties slowly become dimmer. The one upside of the fall season is that it gives us an excuse to buy some new threads for the colder weather. And for those of us in Southern California, cold weather means those brisk 60 degree nights (hey, we do pay that sunshine tax).

One cold weather gear you should consider picking up is this stylish waffle hooded sweatshirt by Burberry. It's a casual zip-up with a drawstring hood that's perfect for a laid-back night out with your lady. The black color and the red accent makes this sweatshirt a perfect match with your favorite pair of jeans. Unless they're Wranglers, which if they are, just put on a flannel shirt and be done with it. You can purchase the sweatshirt at saksfifthavenue.com for $295.

Villa Oxygene

villa oxygene
With the Euro still trading near its all-time high versus the US Dollar, many of you have been holding off on that European vacation until the exchange rate normalizes a bit. Well if you do decide to bite the bullet, consider heading to Cannes, France and staying at the Villa Oxygene, a luxurious four-room villa located just 10-minutes from the center of town that is part of the Residences Superieur collection of properties. In addition to the normal accouterments that one would expect at a luxury property, such as a swimming pool, welcome champagne, and a private chef, your stay will also provide you with access to their luxury sports car collection which includes a Lamborghini Gallardo, Wiesmann Roadster, and a Mercedes S-Class.

You can book a seven-night stay at the Villa Oxygene for a measly $16,999 at luxurylink.com. If you think that's a bit pricey, just consider that renting one of the luxury cars would likely set you back a grand a day.

Luxe Rainwater

tasmanian water
My dear friend Callie use to drive me bonkers when she would hydrate her pomeranian Niko with Fiji water. Good thing she didn't know about Tasmanian Rain, a premium bottled water whose source is the rainwaters of Tasmania. Why Tasmania? Because according to the World Meteorological Organization, it is suppose to have the cleanest air on the planet.

In addition to being superior to spring water, which can still contain traces of containments that can't be filtered out, Tasmanian rain also claims to be a carbon neutral company and uses only 100% glass for its bottles.

You can pick up a bottle at fine resorts like Trump International (Chicago, Las Vegas), Ritz-Carlton (VIP suites), and the Biltmore in Miami or you can go to tasmanianrain.com and buy one for $5.

Callie: Niko prefers toilet water.

The next time you stroll into that all important business meeting, decked out in a proper Hickey Freeman suit and Allen-Edmond loafers, we dare ya, no we double dare ya to add a little bit of insanity to the mix by sporting a bling-crusted skull ring by master Japan. There are four different styles, each distinguished by varying colors and use of jewels. Regardless of which one you choose, you'll be sure to stand-out from the other corporate stiffs. You'll either be known as the super-star rebel or the dumbass who got fired for wearing inappropriate jewelry. We hope its the former since you'll probably need your job to afford the ring's hefty price tag ($5900-$16100).

Louis Vuitton Sandals

On October 25th, the G Luxe crew along with 20 of our closest friends will be enjoying fine cigars, tasty food, great drinks, and a whole lot of sexiness at our first annual Cabo Smoke. This weekend, while at the local Louis Vuitton store with my friends Linda and Steve, I was hit with an inspiration: what would be a more appropriate footwear for lounging in our pool-side day bed surrounded by sun-kissed beauties than a pair of Louis Vuitton sandals. So over the next few weeks, I'm on a mission to convince every one of my buddies who'll be with me in Cabo San Lucas that dropping four bills on sandals is a good idea.

If you want to join us, buy your tickets at cabosmoke.com and make sure to pick up your sandals at eluxury.com.

Eclipse 400

eclipse 400
Crew member Tandori has this ridiculous dream of buying his own micro-jet so that he can fly himself all over the place. A couple of years ago, he even went as far as taking some flying lessons, to the dismay of his friends, family, and apparently TSA who don't take kindly to a dark foreigner born in a sketchy country taking flying lessons.

Unfortunately, after this post, Tandori might be closer to his dream. The Eclipse 400 is a single-engine jet from Ecliplse Aviation. For just $1.35 million, Tandori can fly anywhere within a 1,400 mile radius at a respectable 380 mph. Fortunately, the jet doesn't carry enough fuel to get him to his beloved Hawaii from the mainland so hopefully that fact will convince him that a first-class flight or a piloted G5 is more practical and less likely to cause his early demise.

Soccer in Skirts

dutch soccer team in skirts
Which women's sports has the sexiest athletes? Tennis could make a strong case, what with all their leggy grunters. Beach volleyball is also a contender, although we suspect that the appeal may be more with their bikini outfits than the ladies themselves. We don't care what you think about Michelle Wie, she's hot and makes the LPGA worth watching. Another sport that has their fair share of sexy women is soccer, and an amateur Dutch team has taken steps to make it even sexier with their decision to wear skirts in lieu of shorts. According to 21-year old team captain Rinske Temming:

"We think they are far more elegant than the traditional shorts and furthermore they are more comfortable because the shorts are made for men,"

We couldn't agree more. Read more about the controversy surrounding their decision to sport skirts at reuters.com.

Amber Lounge

amber lounge
One of the goals for the G Luxe crew is to make it to a Formula One race in 2009, preferably in an exotic locale like Monaco. F1 represents the creme de la creme of auto racing (seriously, don't even start NASCAR fans) and in addition, there is something distinctly swanky about the whole Formula One experience. From the million-dollar cars, to the modelesque pit girls, and the lavish VIP parties that accompany every race stop, their events are catered for the jet-setting set.

For those with the cache and the cash, there is no better place to party after a race that at Amber Lounge, a traveling party that is typically hosted at the race location. Like any self-respecting night-club, there will be plenty of Dom, good music, and sexy people, all in a distinctively dreamy setting. Who knows, maybe you'll end up getting a VVIP (we're assuming it stands for VERY VIP) table next to Michael Schumacher or Lewis Hamilton.

If you'll be attending an F1 race this season, book yourself a table at amber-lounge.com.

Champagne or Ferrari?

$275,000 champagne ritz carlton moscos
Such is the question we would someday like to have to deal with. The champagne in question is a $275,000 bottle of 1907 Heidsieck champagne that was pulled from a sunk ship off the coast of Finland that was on its way to the Russian Imperial family. Chances are, its a tasty bottle of bubbly, but paying almost three hundred grand? Even we think that's a bit excessive. If you've already got a Ferrari in your garage and opt for the champagne, you can buy a bottle at the Moscow Ritz-Carlton.

In-Room Pink

Last week, we wrote about the pimpness of Thomas Pink shirts. Well the next time you're in New York City, stay at the Mandarin Oriental and take advantage of their In-Room Shirt Service where you can order up Thomas Pink shirts and ties while you chill in your hotel room. Once you provide your size and color preference, the gear is delivered straight to your hotel room. Sounds pretty cool, but honestly, if you're in New York, get your lazy ass out of that hotel room and check out the city on foot. Hell, the actual Thomas Pink store is only a short distance from the hotel.

Cool Hotels

The Treasure Island hotel in Las Vegas sucks. I guarantee you that dump of a hotel will not be found in Bill Tikos' book, The World's Coolest Hotel Rooms. Bill also operates thecoolhunter.net, one of the Web's most popular online destinations for all things trendy with over 1.5 million hits per month. We dream of such readership.

His book 288-page books chronicles more than fifty of the "hippest, sexiest, newest, and most unusual rooms across the seven continents". With reviews on hotels ranging from an idyllic getaway in Scotland's Jura Island, to a resort in Buenos Aires that provides personal concierge service who can schedule an impromptu tango lesson, this book can definitely be your muse for your future globe-trekking adventure. You can purchase the book at amazon.com for $20.

If you have any doubt that Dubai is the center of the luxe universe, check out this recent report that Italian luxury house Salvatore Ferragamo will be designing the interior of luxury penthouses in the Pentominium tower located in Dubai. Reaching more than 500 meters into the sky, the development will have 120 floors and 120 penthouses, and once completed in 2012, is expected to be the highest residential building in the world.

Crew member Tandori has (suspiciously) been spending quite a bit of time in Dubai is undoubtedly on the waiting list for one of the Ferragamo penthouses.

Atlantis Party

atlantis the palm party
If you happen to be swinging through the Middle East later this month, make sure to stop by Dubai for the grand opening party for the $1.5 billion Atlantis, The Palm resort. The $25 million shindig will include a fireworks display that is rumored to be visible from space and a performance by hottie vocalist Kylie Minogue.

The resort itself continues the fine Dubai tradition of extravegance, showcasing 1,500 rooms and covering several square miles of the largest man-made island, The Palm Jumeirah (or largest ecological disaster in waiting). In addition to world-class shopping, night-life, spa-facilities, and a shark-filled water-slide, the resort will feature 16 restaurants including one from sushi master Nobu.

Baby Gran Turismo

baby maserati gran turismo spyder
The Maserati Gran Turismo has to be one of the sexiest cars in recent memory. However, if the sticker price is slightly above your comfort zone, you may want to set your sights on the baby GT that is rumored to be unveiled at a major auto show in 2009. The baby GT will take stylistic cues from its older brother but is expected to be priced below the six-figure threshold which will put it squarely in the realm of 911's and the BMW 6-series.

This latest Maserati will likely be badged a Spyder and will sport a 350-hp engine that will take it from 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds with a top speed of 170 mph. According to Auto Express, the Spyder will have a stiffer suspension and a tweaked version of the Maserati DuoSelect paddleshift transmission.

With all the new entrants in the sub-100K sports car market, it's a great time to be in the market for a brand new toy. Go to autoexpress.co.uk to read more on the Spyder.

Seven Dream Island Destinations

If you're tired of going to potential tourist traps in Hawaii or the Caribbean, or if you're looking to show your new girlfriend that you're willing to try new things, consider heading out to these seven island destinations that you probably have never heard of. Yahoo Travel's list includes an ex-pirate stronghold in Nicaragua and a surfer's dream in Indonesia. Most of the islands on the list don't appear so out of the beaten path that they don't have luxury hotel options (whew, no camping on termite turd or any of that nonsense).

Go to Yahoo.com to see the complete list or head over to Kayak.com for other island travel ideas.
